Introductory Profile: About Kelvin Lam

I interviewed my father, Kelvin Lam, who lived through the heart of the Vietnam War. He was born on December 5, 1971 in Saigon, four years before its fall to Northern Communists.

Life in Vietnam was very peaceful until the North decided to take full control and started a war that would be a victory for North Vietnam. Kelvin had to live with the Communist government that only supported those who worked for and supported the government. He was able to escape with his immediate family to the United States in 1992.

During my interview, I discussed topics that were related to education, how people inside of Vietnam felt, family and social dynamics, and other topics that you could not get from reading an article online. My father, usually a very happy man, was very serious and thoughtful during the interview. The interview gave me a great insight into the struggles my family has been through to get me to where I am today.
