"Profiling is a word thatís been made into something bad."
George Siddall

Introductory Profile: About George Siddall

The man I interviewed is a retired Travis County sheriff. I have seen George at least once a week for the past eight years, and it wasnít until two months ago I learned his name. He lives a block down from me, in South Austin. He is a very nice man who is past the age of 55. He takes care of his mother who is in her 90s.

I thought that a retired sheriff would be a great interviewee because they are often criticized by the public for using racial profiling. He could explain profiling from a different perspective, from the perspective of the profiler. We talked about profiling, crime in Austin, dangerous encounters, and even KKK riots. George Speaks with a goal -- not to finish the interview, but to tell me the truth.

George Siddall has an opinion that is different from the rest. He may deliver it slowly, but he will change your perspective on a few things, especially profiling.
