"I felt like the purpose of my life was to feel real joy, not just to be tough."
Lyndsi Shae Bostwick

Introductory Profile: About Lyndsi Bostwick

My interviewee, Lyndsi Shae Bostwick, served a year and a half long church-service mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormon church), in San Fernando, California. She returned from her mission three year ago. Despite what she knew of others’ negative perceptions of Mormon missionaries, she was eager to serve a mission. Throughout her mission, she learned a lot and was able to serve many people while teaching them about Jesus Christ and other fundamental beliefs of her church.

Lyndsi Bostwick is 26 years old, a very happy and kindhearted person, and rarely doesn’t have a smile on her face. She is 5 feet 7 inches tall, caucasian, and has light brownish-orange hair. She attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah and has a BA in English literature. She is currently a stay-at-home mother with her seven month old son. Her husband has multiple jobs, and serves in the US navy.

Lyndsi Bostwick graciously accepted my invitation to interview her at my house, about her mission experience. She arrived with her son, (whom can be heard making cute noises throughout the interview) wearing a light sweater, jeans, (it was very cold and rainy outside) and an excited smile. Throughout the interview, she eloquently told me about what her mission was like and other thoughts and opinions she had about her personal experiences.

I think that Lyndsi Bostwick’s story was very interesting and unique; instead of having the unfortunate experience of being negatively affected by the biases and judgements of others, she was able to learn and grow as a person and as a missionary to serve and help many people, both during her mission and after it.
