Introductory Profile: Introduction

I interviewed my grandfather. He was born in Poland and his family – mom, brother, and grandparents – were were expelled from Grünberg by the Polish administration in 1947 and sent by freight train to the Soviet zone of Germany. They were then living in a town by the name Lübben, about 60 miles south of Berlin. His father was sent away to fight in the war and died when my grandfather was very, very young. My Grandfather grew up without ever knowing his father. I wanted to interview him because he was there during, and after world war two, he saw Germany divided, and then reunited. He also saw the beginning and felt the tension throughout the cold war.
