Introductory Profile: About Gilbert Tubahonye

Gilbert Tubahonye was born in the beautiful country of Burundi. Corruption shadowed the scenic areas of where he grew up. His days consisted of playing with his friends in the sun, and snacking on delicious native fruits. In his senior year of high school in 1993, everything changed. Members of the Hutu tribe massacred the school.

The centuries old war between the Tutsi and Hutu tribes had never affected Gilbert until this fateful day. The Hutu tribe forced over a hundred children and teachers into the school, and did things to the innocent people that no human should ever have to go through. Being the only survivor, this experience truly changed his life and overall mindset of things. Gilbert is one of the most joyful and generous people I know, but he is strong. He had faith, and he did not break. His story is heartbreaking, sorrowful, but the most inspirational tale you will ever hear.
